Replacing the O-rings in a Distribution Plate, or CPU/GPU water blocks requires the product to be fully disassembled. A full disassembly of the product will not void the warranty on the product itself but it will void the Leak warranty which, more information about the leak warranty can be found here.
DISTRO PLATE
Replacing Distribution Plate O-rings:
- Replacing the O-rings on the Distribution Plate will require the removal of all Top Plexi (lid) screws, depending on the Distribution Plate size there can be anywhere from 30-70 screws, for example, the distro plate in the picture below is the EK-Quantum Reflection² PC-O11D XL D5 which has 64x Screws that hold the Top Plexi (lid) to the Top Plexi (Block).
- When reassembling the Distribution Plate it is crucial that non of the O-rings get pinched and that the screws are tightened to the correct torque which is 0.6NM.
- We recommend the use of our EK-Loop Torque Screwdriver - 0.6Nm which upon reaching this torque, an audible click is produced, and the screwdriver resets, this can prevent the screws to be overtightened.
GPU water block
Replacing GPU water block O-rings:
- Replacing the main O-ring on a GPU water block will require the removal of the Top Plexi screws, there are also 2 Terminal O-rings that require the removal of the terminal.
- On the ABP Sets, there are 4x terminal O-rings and a bigger Active Backpalte terminal O-ring.
- For example below is a picture of the EK-Quantum Vector² Trio RTX 4090 D-RGB ABP Set, the version of the water block with a normal passive backplate is similar except there are only 2 terminal O-rings and one main O-ring.
- When reassembling the water block it is crucial that non of the O-rings get pinched and that the screws are tightened to the correct torque which is 0.6NM.
CPU block/Monoblock
Replacing CPU water block/monoblock O-rings:
- Replacing the O-rings in a CPU water block or Monoblock will require the removal of the Top Plexi, Metal plate Assembly and Cold Plate screws.
- Below is a picture of the Velocity² water block.
- Replacing the O-ring on a monoblock is similar to a normal CPU water block, the removal of the Top Plexi, Metal plate Assembly, and Cold Plate screws is necessary, but since monoblocks also cool the motherboard there will be additional Cold Plates which have their own O-rings.
- For example below is a picture of the EK-Quantum Momentum² ROG Maximus Z790 Hero monoblock.
- When reassembling the water block it is crucial that non of the O-rings get pinched and that the screws are tightened to the correct torque which is 0.6NM.

Thank you for listing the tightening torque for the screws. Should O-Rings be replaced after cleaning, or are they OK to be reused and only need replacing if leaking or damaged?
hey Fabian,
thank you for the question. The O-rings can be reused multiple times as long as they are not damaged or have changed the structure drastically.
